Rapid development of market relations in Ukraine has raised demand for highly qualified lawyers. The legal profession is becoming increasingly prestigious.

Reform of the legal system of education resulted in the establishment of a wide network of the graduate schools that provide legal education and degrees: junior specialist, bachelor, specialist and   master. Currently, there are around two hundred government and private graduate schools.

As a rule, students study at university law faculties for five years or at dedicated law schools for four years.

The majority of law schools offer distance education and evening programs. Law school student who have already graduated from other graduate schools study only three years.

The educational process in Ukraine is aimed at providing students with a broad base of expertise, preparing them for any positions that requiring legal education.
Students study law course in addition to the general subjects. The law related subjects are: a theory of state and law; history of government and law, administrative law, criminal law, civil law and international law, etc.

Some law schools offer economic training that prepare lawyers in business law and processes.
