Authority and oppossition have to unite for approval of Eurointegration laws
Aleksander Kwaśniewski, a former president of Poland, calls on Ukrainian authorities and opposition to join efforts to achieve approval by the Parliament all necessary Eurointegration laws. This was declared by him on April 22, during a meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov.

Aleksander Kwaśniewski noted that on April 22 he had already met with Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Rybak and leaders of all political factions. “We wanted to speak on behalf of the European Parliament that we need an extremely serious substantive work of the Rada. We need joint activity of all the parliamentarians in order to approve necessary laws. The association agreement is a historical moment for Ukraine. It will not be the victory of the Government and defeat of the opposition, it will be the victory of all Ukrainian people,” the politician emphasized.

He has set an example of European countries, in particular, of Poland in which the authority and opposition had united for integration with the EU at one time.

In addition, Aleksander Kwaśniewski underlined that in the report of the Monitoring mission of the European Parliament in Strasbourg there had been stressed Ukraine’s progress on the way towards signing the Association agreement. He added that one of the principal achievements of work of this mission appeared that Europe had ceased to perceive the events happening in Ukraine in “black-and-white colors”. “Now this attitude has changed and many of European politicians understand Ukraine more deeply,” Aleksander Kwaśniewski explained and added that all factions of the European Parliament positively evaluated work of the Monitoring mission.

In his turn, ex-president of the European Parliament Pat Cox expressed gratitude to Mykola Azarov for his personal facilitation to the work of mission. “I want to thank You for our cooperation, for “the open doors”, open documents as without such an attention and assistance on your part we would not be able to achieve such significant progress,” he said.

Mykola Azarov thanked to co-heads of the mission of the European Parliament for the work in Ukraine and assured that in the future the Monitoring mission can account on overall support and facilitation on behalf of the Government. “I want to thank you for the efforts you make in this extremely complicated work. I hope we will continue cooperation,” the Premier of Ukraine stressed.
